    2003 and later compression

Thanks YAMAHAAULER. I asked this question a few months back, but too many people just quoted the manual.. or they lliked to say "should be xxx" I get the same readings on any 2xxx year motor I have worked on. My factory sealed 2003 did 153. My buddy's 89 with a refreshed 2003 top end showed...

    2003 and later compression

I know a few people are going to kill me for this... but just go along with it for a min. Can someone with a 2003 or newer Warrior(or any Raptor 350) go out to their garage/shed and tell me what they get for a compression test? I don't want to know what the book says or what it should...

    removing valves

I would go and buy one of the $35-$40 C-clamp style motorcycle valve spring tools on Ebay (see link below). Anything made for a car will not give you enough room to work. Its not safe to use anything else. trust me.. You know the valve spring retainer? that disc on top of the valve that you...

    Compression after rebuild.

Oh, sorry about that. I guess when I saw "most engines" I took it as being a general statement. So no one has ever seen a 100% stock 350 motor in the 160-175 range?

    The new look!!!

Just giving you a hard time. I found I never like to ride my stuff if its too pretty looking. Best thing for me is to just roll it over trying to take it off the truck.. that way I don't have to worry about it the rest of the day.

Why you never buy a wiseco crank! Ever...

I know all the Blaster guys say they would NEVER, EVER run a wiseco crank. I won't get into a rant, but it reminds me of the BS Snap-on pulls... just because a company makes the best of one product doesn't mean their name will make other junk products better.

All Balls Racing Rear Shock Bushing kits wrong?

Sorry if this has been reviewed before... but has anyone noticed that the "Lower shock" rebuild kit from All Balls Racing only fits the upper part of the shock?

    The new look!!!

Looks slick. Where is all the mud though?

    Bad mechanics

Did it happen to look like the picture below? I just finished replacing a top end on a motor that was hacked up like that. We found the chain guide jammed down by the crank. The piston had DENTS on it... one of the last owners hit a valve with the piston, replaced the valves but kept the busted...

    Compression after rebuild.

Thanks for all the feedback. Still hoping a builder will chime in and share some of the true values they get from a fresh motor.

    Compression after rebuild.

Right, that's why I was asking for a real world number of the PSI. Not what it should be, not what the book says, but what someone with a well running stock motor gets on a good battery with WOT. I'm not worried about the ratio now since I get the same value on a known stock motor. While...

    Compression after rebuild.

Does anyone have any of their own compression numbers from stock warriors? I know what the book says, but I'm looking for real values people have seen

    Compression after rebuild.

I thought I would answer my own questions.. maybe it will help someone else out. :nanner: 1) The compression... either my compression gauge is messed up or the values stated in most of the manuals are wrong? My 100% stock and well cared for 2003 warrior shows 170PSI with the throttle wide...

    Back Fires PROBLEM!!!

Cam timing was a bit off and it back backfires? I smell a broken flywheel key :argh: Or a chain that is due to be replaced.. I like to type too much so ignore the rest of this post if you know that its not the problem. Remove the small timing cap (the round plastic cap above the...

    Compression after rebuild.

What kind of warm compression numbers are you guys seeing on fresh OEM top ends? I did a hone/re-ring on a really nice used 2003 top end. STD sized Yamaha piston with new Yamaha rings. I'm showing 155psi warm with about 5-10 mins of break-in time total. The head was not decked per-say.. but...

    My Custom Yamahas

Hey! I run into friends all over once I post the Blaster/Trike. I was going to use my normal username but I thought I would change it up a bit. Plus people kept thinking it was my age

    My Custom Yamahas

I'm new here so I thought I would share some of my builds. My 2003 Warrior is 100% stock down to the tires, but some of my other rides have a few "bolt-ons" 1981 XJ550 in a Blaster frame. 1979 XS400 converted to mono-shock with a Blaster swingarm.

    Warrior Cam sprocket washer

Long story short... i'm putting together a Warrior motor that was hacked up by it's last owners. I found a copper washer under the bolt that holds the cam sprocket on. It's just like the washers used under the head bolts. Is that correct or should it be a steel washer? Also, should I be...
