    400 swap

I've thought of this myself. My cousin has a 2000 Big Bear and the cylynder and head all look the same from the outside. I looked at the specs on Yamaha's web site and according to them the stroke is different but the bore is the same.83mm x 64.5mm for the Warrior. 71.5mm for the stroke on the...

    Mid-Range & Top end stall?

I cleaned my air filter last week and re-oiled it, but never really got to ride. From what I could tell in the back yard it still did it. I had bought a rebuild kit for the carb so I rebuilt the carb yesterday. While I had it completly apart I sprayed it out real good with carb cleaner. After...

    NEW POLARIS OUTLAW 525 KTM

I was in at the local shop that sells Polaris yesterday and they had an Outlaw in the showroom. It is a chain drive just like some else has mentioned.

KFX 450 - Just an update

Before the 450's came out there were acouple of companies making aluminum 250r frames. From what I understand they were pretty good. I wanted to think Bill Balance was using one, but I'm not sure. The point I am making is if done right an aluminum frame's not a bad thing. Now will Kawasaki's...

    oil

From what I understand it is the shock loads from the gears in the transmission that stresses the oil. They can sheer the oil and cause the viscosity of a low quality oil to break down. I'm thinking it is the energy conserving oils that have the additives that hurt the clutch. I may get a...

    oil

I've been thinking of using either Castrol Syntec or Mobil1 in 20W-50 when I do my oil change. Seems the auto synthetics run close to the same price as the non synthetic motorcycle oils. Also here is a story Sport Rider did a couple years ago about oils...

    Mid-Range & Top end stall?

Did some testing today with my timing light. Timing at idle is good.I rigged my light up so I could put the seat on an took it for a spin up the road. I can't seem to detect a change in the light when it starts cutting out, though I'm not sure I would at the RPM that it cuts out at. Sure the...

    Mid-Range & Top end stall?

I moved the needle one notch toward lean and it didn't seem to change anything.I have since put it back stock. I initially thought I was lean and went up one on the main but it is back to the stock size as well. The main was before I discovered it would do it when it wasn't at full throttle...

    Mid-Range & Top end stall?

Hey all, this is sort of a continuation of the "Whats it feel like topped out" thread. Did some riding today and the quad seems to have a stumble in the mid to top end range. It seems to be more RPM dependent than throttle position dependent. I can be in 5th or 6th at half throttle and it will...

    Ideas

I'd ride it while I was saving for a 450. The sell it and get the 450. That way you won't be without a quad to ride while you're saving.

    Front/Rear Tire Size for Warrior

I currently have that combination on mine.22" fronts and 20" rears. Works good in the woods though I did give up some ground clearance when I went down to the 20" rears

What's it feel like topped out?

I worked on it some more today. Checked the needle. It was set at the stock position.I moved the clip up one to lean it out since I thought I was rich. Can't say there is a noticable change.Took the choke apart and cleaned it. Probably going to put the needle and the main back stock for now. I'm...

What's it feel like topped out?

I stumbled acoss that last night when I was digging around for gas shelf life. I may have to check into getting one of those old army gas cans. I guess gas may break down faster than I thought, but when properly stored it can last quiet a long time.
