alright, sunday was my birthday, i turned 17. i had no idea what to get, and my parents didnt know what to get, so they wrote in the card that when i figure out what i want to let them know. they wont give me money, but i have around $140 bucks. what do you guys think, i almost told them to get disc brakes for my bike, but anyone have any suggestions?

i wish they would spend that much money on me, i would love some elkas, or an edelbrock, but i just might go with the disc brakes for my bike, and maybe some other stuff

i have a mountain bike, but i ride it like a bmx bike, well would jumpin off one of your steepest hill climbs on the bike count as mountain biking??

hahahahahah sure i guess, i ride some crazy **** here, we got a copuple 2.5 foot drops, on downhills and some other crazy jumps in the trails, but yeah, i guess you could call it mountian biking

I do some freeriding, light DH, and some xc. I have a Giant AC1, and other than the rear shock needed to be replaced, now is a Fox Racing Shox DHX 5.0 '06 750 lb spring), I have no complaints.

Lemme know how you like those mechanical discs, I have Hayes Hydraulic front and rear on mine, and the only complaint I have is if i bail, and snap a cable I'm out of brakes on that wheel :( ...

I'm into XC mountain biking, been riding for over 7 years. I've got those same Avid BB7 brakes, so I'll go on record for them saying that they are THE BEST mechanical disc brake made. period. I must say very good choice! Oh yeah....Ontario singletrack is where its at!!!! WOOHOO!

a little bike porn for ya.... my tricked out Avalanche 1.0

yeah, ratch, i did my research, there supposed to be better than some of the hydrolics out there, i ride a trek 4300, its got mavic wheels, and hubs, a race face crank(stocker was soooooo fucked up ....heheheheheh!!!) and on wendsday ill be rolling with my discs!!! i dont have the money to afford a nicer bike, but nothing satisfys me more than flying by somone on a trek fuel 8, uphill....

yeap but i plan on a new fork, and derailers, soon

the egg beaters are IMO the greatest pedal ever made, my knees have never been happier. They have good float and you can choose between like 15 and 20 degree release angles, oh yeah and they NEVER get jammed up with mud. I'm actually buying a set of egg beater quattros for my road bike this week.

Man, keep trickin out your 4300, they are great frames to build on, sounds like you got a kick ass wheel set and cranks already. I'm running Mavic rims but shimano hubs, how do you like the Mavic hubs? Are they loose ball bearings like the shimano hubs or do they have cartridge bearings?
