No i didn't. When i used the scouring disk, it left a cool pattern in the metal, and i wanted it to show through. (the paint is semi transparent).
 
To notch it out i used a die grinder. Yes after drilling the new holes you have to grind off the tabs. (meaning you can no longer use stock length warrior shocks.)

Why can't you use the stock shocks any more ? They would still fit but it would lower the front a 1/2 inch right.
 
Yes, it would lower it, not sure how much but i'm sure it would be lot more that 1/2 inch, as the new holes are inward as well I haven't tryed them back on yet.
