Start problems

Hello, im hearing a "click" coming from what i belive is the solenoid. ( i think that is comeing from the solenoid because if you put your fingure on it makes a quick click) anyway i want to know if theres something causeing this or do i need a new one, if anyone knows anything about this problem please help.
Ive herd that it could be the starter. but im not sure how to test for these problems

one of the ways to test the starter is pull it out and hook it to a battery and see if it spins. the negative you just hook where it bolts to the motor. you could also jump the selenoid. also how old is your battery and its state of charge.

hey thanks for they hlp ive narrowed idt down to a screwed up starter. i tryed all the triks to igueing i out and when the starter is hooked up directly to power there is no movement in the starter whats o ever....Thanks again
