I went to check my timing yesterday and while I had the engine running I took the small timing plug out of the left side. When I screwed the plug out it actually blew off and a little spatter of oil came with it. Is their supposed to be pressure in the crankcase like that?

Do you have a breather tube that comes off of the cover? If so check to make sure that it's not clogged. If not it may be a sign that your rings are going ... are you burning oil?

Yea the hose comes off the cam sprocket cover. I'm not burning any oil. I have a snorkel on it and the breather hose is routed up the snorkel so I can see if any smoke comes out of breather but none is

Did you double check the hose and make sure its clear of any mud or other blockage? ...also not pinched anywhere along the path.
