I've painted mine twice. First was with some crap that you put down and then paint over, but it flaked off.

The second time my dad ordered bumber coating from work (he's a mechanic) and it worked fine and has yet to flake off.
 
unless your fenders are black, i wouldnt even bother with it. if they are black.. sand them with a heavy grit then wet sand em with 400. prime with a paint that bonds to plastics.. i used DUPONT.. after you prime em wet sand them again with 400. put on 2-3 coats. wet sand them again and then clear coat them..... only thing that will make em chip, from i found at least was if you wear riding boots. thats the only thing that has chipped mine so far. i didnt wet sand mine after i primed them, but my room mate is a auto body technician and he recommended it.. i think i posted pics of mine in the GENERAL BOARD under REHABBED FENDERS. my plastics are white
