Right behind you!
Ive started to think about what im going to do next winter to my quad...i was thinking about going to a 450r but nah i love my warrior and its bad ass.

Well i want to get a stroker kit. I want eather the 400 or what dave got....actualy i want everything that dave got done to his engine.

Well what i was wondering what is a good price for the hot rods 400 stroker kit and if i get just the stroker what all else should i do like a p&p or what?

And to dave...what all did FST do to your engine? How much did it cost?

Thanks,
Luke

O another thing im looking at are new front shocks....by the end of this season the shocks will prob be shot becasue first off they are works, and second off they have no rezzies so i bet the oil will break down really fast after a couple races in the woods....i like them but i know they are easy to destroy, not dissen works all you guys that have works. Sooo im thinking about elkas off ebay brand new with piggy backs for $714, i think they are what dave has.

Another thing about the strokers....anybody that has the 400 kit, what all can you beat in a race(how much power gain)?, anybody with the 430 kit same question, and dave the same for your 446 kit? I want to know what ill be able to keep up with with these kits.

Just a quick question and not to disrespect you, but have you ever even rode any of the 450s? I mean I love my warrior too, but a 450 compared to a warrior is like comparing apples to oranges. I'm sure you hear this all the time, but why not take that $750 and the $1500 or more and put it towards one of these? Like I said, love mine, but as far as sport quads go they are out dated and no matter what you do it'll be hard to beat any of the 450s. I set back and read your post on all you've done and granted yes you have one of the baddest warriors around, but I can't help but wonder why invest so much? My first car many moons ago was a Ford Escort, 94 to be exact. Yes I "pimped" it out, but I still realized no matter what I did wouldn't make it a Vette. I'm sure at your age you see things different and nothing wrong with it. I guess it's the Marine and father in me wanting to always look out for people. Once again, awesome warrior and I throughly enjoy gettting on hear and reading what you've done now.

He does have a point mate - if you wanna be fast throwing a whole bucket of cash at the warrior just to get it to an unreliable amount to keep up with the 450s mite not be the wisest decision for what you are wanting to do. I know that before I had my yfz I thought the blaster and warrior were going to be good enough to satisify my riding need and never worry about buying something bigger. But as soon as I hit the track with the yfz and relized that I was having a whole different type of fun because I was competitve. It took on a whole nother life.

Just our 2 cents but - but you do have a bad ass warrior and those graphix give like 3 hp right?

exile, I agree with you, if you go out and buy a 450, there is always a faster 450 to beat you, no matter what, and when you do win, its no big deal because you are on a 450, everyone know they are fast. But when you have a warrior and can wax some ass on it it is a lot more gratifying. I love when some kid gets a new z400 or ex and they cant ride well, then you smoke their ass on a warrior, go all out on it man, thats what im trying to do, if I can sell my old street bike then i'm putting that $2000 into my warrior

A Warrior that rocks both performance and looks will make heads turn if it can keep up with the big dogs.....its totally worth it.....and hell yeah the graphix had 3 HP's at least hahahha

Yes yes i know....450's rock ive ridden many and i really really want a 2006 450r...i even picked out everything that i would get on it if i got one but like missouritrailrider said its the sadisfaction of beating a much better new bike on an old outdated peice....Im looking forward to getting a 450r some day but now soon...i like my warrior way too much its a one of a kind and its means soo much to me because its the only thing i have ever put all my money and time into and i want it to rock even harder....i hope that one day ill be able to afford a 450r and still keep my warrior. It may sound stupid to some of you with how much ive put into it and why i wouldnt just buy a 450 but idk i like my warrior way to much....also i love seeing peoples heads turn and say what is that, expecialy when i beat them, and then they get amazed when they find out its a warrior...priceless

But about the strokers...does anybody have any info on those kits i listed? Ive found that i can get the hotrods 400 stroker for 515 on ebay. I would like a 430 kit or the 446 kit though and i cant find them anywhere besides FST....is that the only place that makes them?...I think i might go with the 400 kit becuase its going to be the most reliable out of the 3 right?

Warriors are great, I wouldn't have one if I didn't like them. Have fun with the build, just keep us updated on it all. I'd go with the 446...LOL

well i got the 400 kit in my raptor, and it really rips. i did it over the summer out of necessity, not out of fun. i finished it right before i left for school so i havnt had much ride time on it. but i talked to guys at alba and some other companies, and they said that they have rode that kit in there warriors for some time now and that it is very reliable. i enjoyed the little ride time i had on it before i left for school, because it is so much more powerfull. whatever you decide to do, good luck, and props man, i agree whoopin on somthin big and bad on our 350's is very liberating, because the same goes for me, i love it and i rather beat on someone with my "lil 350" than somthing bigger. take pride in what you own and build!

hahahaha i do almost every single day now.....hahaha my friends use to always make fun of me becuase i would always work on it and never ride....now all i do is ride and i usualy go by myself because there all too lazy

Hey luke, so your serious about going 446 eh. All I did pull the motor appart and send Mickey the crank cases, cylinder, crankshaft, and head because I got the port and flow work done from him. So the costs were $650 for the piston, gasket, sleeve, clutch springs, and modified crank. He case bored the cases, pressed the sleeve in and finish honed the cylinder for $200. He ported and flowed the head for $175. Shipping was $30 each way. I also needed new valves because of my adjusting. You'll def want to get the cam from him as he uses the Megacycle 252X1, and after testing other cams can say this is the best cam for this engine, the torque right off idle is immense. Stock 13/40 gearing you can pull a wheelie in 3th gear with no clutch work. I can probably say with the Warriors outdated chassis probably gives you a bit of an advantage esp for you since you race woods. The front being a bit more heavy and having this much torque will def keep you planted on hill climbs. Like we've said before HP will be in the 42 to 45 range, but that isn't the whole story with this motor, it's torque, it's being able to lug a higher gear were all those 450s can only dream of. I wish some of you guys can ride mine just to see what I'm talking about.

Well thanks for all the info and yes i would love to ride yours =]...but idk if im going to go that big...idk i think i would be better off with the 400 kit. I mean i wont have to do the case boring right? And i dont really feel like sending my motor out....i dont trust people and i like doing it myself, hahaha that can be a bad thing some times. Idk im still taking thought on it all. It all comes down to how much work it is and how much money i have at the end of this race season. It would deff be nice to get the 446....how reliable is it? If its real good ill get it, i dont want to be half way threw the season and have it take a **** on me. I know any stroker is going to be less reliable then stock but is it really bad, like would i have to take really high mantince of it?

I wouldn't say it's going to be less reliable then stock, he uses a custom made JE light weight forged piston, so right off the bat the recpocating mass is reduced evn though the bore in 4mm larger. This motor was easy to just clean the crank cases well and do an oil change after the first 10 mins to remove all the rag fibers, gasket maker material, and breakin lube, and you won't run into the problem I ran into.

What about sending your engine in is there any way to get around that....i really dont feel like taking whole transmission out of my bottem end to put it all back togehter when i get it back, that just sounds really painstaking and long. how does all that work? What was your total anyways with the shipping, labor cost and what not...Do i need the clutch springs? Also about the cam...do i need that too i already have the .430 lift web cam? If you could tell me the full cost of everything and what the cam and cluch springs are all about? Thanks dave

The trans is a piece of cake to install there is nothing really critical
just do it bro you'll be more then happy.

Can you just send in your motor to Mickey and have him do the complete rebuild or will he only accept it in pieces?

You can send him the complete motor but i think its going to bumo the cost up about 500 dollars ( not sure on that though)

But your going to have more money in shipping, labor, and etc.
