I have been troubleshooting this issue for quite a long time. The motor run good hot or cold, but after throttleing up a few times the engine backfires and causes the carb to shoot off.

Could my valves be out of adjustment or maybe just a carb problem.

any help would be great.

My 2001 Wolverine has a similar problem. When it idles it will pop which causes the carb to shutter. I can hold the carb and feel the popping! I also pops when decelerating. Was told to check out the air vent cut off which in my carb is located on the very top, rubber diaphram looking thing. Let me know if you solved your prob. and what was the cause.

Ok sweet will do, been picking at this problem for ever. My guess is that it is the carb to. valves are perfectly tuned, so i will try this and get back to you.

Might have a crack in the intake boot. I had one and it had the same symptoms.
