Do you know if your up in the mountains in the spring, and need some moisture.. Don't eat the top layer of snow.
It starts to grow a red lichen on top of it as the air warms during the day, and it will **** you right to death!!
Scrape down a few inches, and eat that. You can see the color of the snow change as you dig down..
