how to keep crankshaft key from riding up?

Trying to install my flywheel and the key on the crankshaft keeps riding up in the back preventing me from doing so, I know for sure I shouldn't have to force it. What can I do to keep it in place?

put a dab of axle grease on it then tap it in level and just take your time when putting the flywheel on
