you mean you want to drill it out and put a grease nipple?

Is this something that can prevent Maintantance.
Well I really don't get your question? lol
But yes you want to add grease to the carrier bearings.. Add about 3 good pumps to it after every 10 hours of riding time.
I'll usually tear the axle out and clean it at the end of every riding season as well. It's also good to inspect your bearings once a year.

I have a RAD bearing carrier and it has a grease fitting built in.
As for the swinger bolt, on my 400ex I taped both ends of the bolt and put a grease fitting in one side and a pipe plug in the other. I then drilled some holes in the inner sleeve so grease can not only get to the bearings but between the bolt and sleeve so the blot does not seize together and will make it easier to disassemble in the future. I plan to do the same to my warrior next time I have it apart.
