Floorboards

I just bought my Wolverine and the first day out busted a floorboard, now iv done some looking around and it seems this is a common problem. Does anyone have some ideas and or pictures on how to make some good skid plates to keep this from happening again, if so it would be much appreciated

I cut out plates from 1/8 diamond plate and mounted them under the footrest of course driled holes and there is a bracket under there also make sure to put that back.I had always thought aboyut drilling some small holes to let the water flow through but then the mud would get in there easier too.

I busted 2 of them before I did this.
