I'd go fuel injection any day. The reason why it makes more power is because carbs require whats called the venturi effect to function. Meaning the carb necks down to create a higher velocity and lower pressure. Then the outer atmospheric pressure pushes the fuel into the air charge. The carb then opens back up into the intake. All create a restriction. A throttle body on the other hand just uses a pressurized injector, not needing the venturi effect and removing that restriction.
 
For a daily driver, EFI is the way to go. For offroading, I'd still prefer a carb. For a budget, a carb is the way to go.
