typically the side pointing towards the air filter will have more scratches on an older machine. Did you take the diaphragm off? If you didn't take it off, it should only go on one way... just look for the little half-moon piece of rubber hanging off the outside edge.
well the diaphragm was turning on the slide like it was broke ya know and for a quick fix i put silicone on it and never thought about where i positioned it lol trying to do it in a hurry so i can use it to go hunting
