Just got back from the garage, and the dip stick has me a tad confused. Am I measuring the dip just inside that tiny cross-patterned piece at the end of the stick, or am I looking at the entire stick? Thanks guys.
You want the oil level to be at the top of the cross hatch pattern. Typically with Yamahas you check the oil level with the engine warmed up and the oil dip stick NOT screwed into the hole. The oil cap with the dip stick on it is merely set on top of the oil cap hole threads and the oil level is taken without it being screwed into the hole. Your owners manual should have more information.
