Changing out Starter on 2005 Wolverine 350

Has anyone changed their starter out? My husband is pretty mechanically inclined so I am wondering if he can do this on his own? We are pretty sure the problem is the starter as it makes a horrible noise when we push the starter button. The starter is working for now but we know we will have to replace it soon. Thanks!

It should be a pretty straight forward replacement.

if it is a grinding noise just save yourself the trouble and dont worry about it, The gears on the starter and starter reduction gears starts to wear over time causing the sound. You can spend a few hundred bucks on new gears and fix the problem but I went this route and if had to do it over would just leave it alone.
