I went to take my drive chain off and soak it in kerosine and the master link wasn't going for it. I pecked on it with a ball peen then tried prying with a screw driver and it was a no go. I looked on ebay for a chain breaker and they had 4 or 5 kinds. I'm thinking the c-clamp looking one in a box with an assortment of pins looks like the way to go. What do you more experienced members prefer.

never needed on usually clip slids off with a pick and the link with a large socket and pliers

Make sure the master link is on the rear sprocket. Doing that will give it some support for you to remove the one side. I use a small chisel and a small ball peen to pop it off. Usually the wedge shape of the chisel is plenty to literally wedge in there and pop the plate off. Or, you can tap it off placing the chisel against the top of the link's plate.

harbor freight chain breaker works pretty damn good.

Agreed on the Harbor Freight chain breaker, works great....was even able to peen the new master link pins with it, no issues....
