Anyone know the secret to getting the ball joints out of the spindle, without screwing up the boots???

Obviously there is the pickle fork method, but that runs a good change of screwing the boot.

I knocked mine out by tapping on the a-arm knuckles with a small sledge.

Other than that, there is a tool out there made specifically for yamaha ball joints, that threads on, and presses them out. It's sort of like a turnbuckle that goes between the ball joint threads and the spindle.

i uslay take a nut that fits it and make the nut flush with the bolt then take a punch and tap it mine comes loose wit in a few big hits

Smack the SPINDLE a few times with a ball-peen hammer. Then thread the nut on even with the threads and give it one good whack. They usually come right out.

If not, Tap the spindle again, and whack it again. It'll come out. The spindle hit breaks the taper loose. Kinda like removing the chuck on a Morse Taper style Drillpress.
