1987 dual pickup coil stator ?

Just installed a Mr. Electrical stator in the old 87 and the wire colors were not a perfect match. Besides the two plastic plugs, there are two single wires in the harness which I believe run to the two pickup coils. Does it matter if these single wires are reversed? She runs fine but starts sputtering when given heavy throttle. This could be a carb problem but this machine was running fine before the new stator was installed yesterday.

If it runs, I think you're fine. Did it sit a while? Could need a carb cleaning.
