ended up being the starter clutch like i thought, thanks for the responses.

i think its the starter clutch, it kind of hits compression and with the timing cam gear cover off you can see it jump back and forth before finally turns over. Any word on those new starter clutches yet? i think i read L&L was the brand. can you get them?

i switched out the starter with mine and mines only about a year old and it did the same thing. they had the starter clutch off and said it seems fine and the woodruff key was ok as well.

not sure havent seen it yet, headed over to help figure it out tomorrow. says it cranks just fine with no spark plug though. looking for ideas to look for so keep them coming....

warrior has a hard spot while cranking and wont crank over. the battery is fully charged and good. starter clutch appears to be ok so what else could it be?? help asap thanks!

i have the same lonestar a-arms and they do use the 87 warrior ball joints for sure.

both pickup coils ohm out at 191 which is in spec, main thing i need to know is which two wires are for the source coil???

hey guys an uncle of mine just bought an 87 that wont start. I went over and it has no spark so i tried to ohm out the stator. Both pickup coils seemed fine at about 190 ohms but when trying to test the source coil the book(clymer) calls for red and black wires. I dont see these colors. The...

i put in a rmstator about two years ago and now the warrior wont start. ive ohmed out the red/white at 457 ohms and the green/brown at 650 so wheres this at compared to where it should be?

mine and lots of others never line up perfectly either. i always just set mine forward of the line, its about a half of a tooth off

so anyone know what these reverse and neutral relays do? are they just to turn on the dash lights?

well it still wont start on its own, but if pop started it does fine even with neither of them hooked up. what exactly are they supposed to do??
