yz 250 shifter mod

Im sure there is a post about the yz shifter mod but i cant find it. Does it matter wt year model yz it is and to make sure its a yz 250 shifter

Also will it change the okward shift degree on the lever, may just be me but the warrior has the weirdest gear shifter iv used
