Hi all,

quick question........

When 4x4 is engaged the front diff makes a whining noise at higher speeds, say above 15mph

Is this normal???

Is it really loud? Some noise is normally heard, but not much.

It's not really loud but loud enough to notice it, if it does make a noise anyway, I will keep a eye on it an just check it doesn't get any louder.

I will put some fresh oil in it also, it should be ok the bike has only covered 300miles

What year? I never hear any noise. I have an 08

when you change oil try using synthetic, it will help reduce the noise. you could also try a limited slip diff additive.

Use synthetic 80/90, the cheap stuff foams too much instead of getting milky.

Using gear oil right, sorry didn't specify that. They don't sell that locally even in UK?

Yeah gear oil, I knew that bit haha

I found somewhere on the net that was doing a good deal, cheaper inc postage than going to get some so I ordered it BUT had a email the next day saying no stock. So yes I need to go my local bike shop and buy some.
Hopefully get it tomorrow and change it
