cv axle play

have about an inch of play on the left hand cv axle, right where it enters the axle housing. is that normal? am i missing a clip?

yea new to the site. have a black '04 since it was new

i had the same thing on mine..... would be pretty damn sure it is missing a clip....that is what the problem on mine was..

well for me it was a very simple fix.... i guess it depends on how mechanical you are....it is pretty easy...pull wheel,brakes,rotor, off then i undid the shock ,and the a-arm bottom and pulled the cv out....put a new clip on,and stuff it back in....pretty easy....the clip is like a buck...cheap.but make sure you fix it and make sure the seal is not all buggered up.you do not want water getting in there.....take about an hour i guess....
