I have looked into this also and what I did find was that the diff out of a 1999 Kodiak was a direct bolt up and the gear ratio was the same. I believe that there is a wright up about it on the ATV Connection forum. This was a bout a year ago.

When its running and you try and gas it, does the slide in the carb move up and down freely or does it sputter. If it sputters then check your diaphram again. I had to seal the base of mine cause it wasnt sealed properly, use a gas resistant glue.

So you only use about half a tank now for 8 hours, Thats more like what I was thinking it should use.

I would have to say that the biggest beef I have with my 99 is the lack of MUD PROTECTION, as soon as I get any kind of front wheel spin in I get covered in MUD!! I need fender flairs.
