You have to take the top of the carb off also, 4 screws. Then you should be able to get the needle out. I should of took some pics when i did mine, Darn it. Do you have the carb off the bike or just hanging by the throttle cable ?

Left side on mine is parking brake/rear brake. If you dont have it i'm sure you can add it. wonder why someone would remove the lever ? Is the rest of the parts there >? I have seen replacement levers on eBay for 5 bucks.

You should to be honest, There is a easy way of doing it tho...Disconnect the fuel line. Loosen up the clamps on both sides of your Carb, Rotate it so the bowl is facing you. Its tight but it will turn 45 degrees. Then remove the 4 screws holding the bowl on. Pull out the main jet and look at...

No sir i haven't done it, But a good friend of mine has a Z400. Next time we are out riden i will take a look at them side by side and maybe post some pics. To see if the swap looks Do-able.
