Sprocket/tire/chain changes and effects on speed.

I'll edit the chart with the other gears and post it as soon as my ISP gets back online. There's just no way I can move pics around with a dial up connection. The excel chart is already made, I just have to change the numbers and copy n paste. Uploading is what's hard to do right now and...

    Best carb size?

My ISP (Charter - they suck!) is all screwed up and I'm using dial up at the moment... So, I can't risk typing a lot and losing it, but the first thing I want to get to the bottom of is the deal with flatslides. Everywhere I've read online says flatslides are for bottomend. Mikuni says...

Sprocket/tire/chain changes and effects on speed.

Thanks! Now you'll have 4 sprockets to play with in case you don't like the 14/38. If you have a 1986-1988 model, you can go down to a 37 instead of only a 38. Just pointing that out... I just said 38 because I didn't know what year you had...

    Best carb size?

Well, their recommendation for a 270cc, 4-stroke, 2 valve head engine that is very similar to the warrior was a VM32 with a 5L1 needle in a bleed type needle-jet. I find the combo works pretty well once I got the main jet right, but I have a dial-a-jet also. Its hard to imagine how or what...

Sprocket/tire/chain changes and effects on speed.

14 divided by 40. 14/40 It really doesn't matter, but it makes better sense to say 40/14 or 2.857... Because it takes 2.857 revolutions of the front sprocket to equal 1 revolution of the rear sprocket. Its harder to visualize .35 revolutions of the rear sprocket being equal to 1 rev of...

Does Sudco know what they're doing?

I would drop the back down to 38 then. You'll pick up some speed, but not as much as just raising the front to 14. Close though. 13/40=.325 (stock) 13/38=.342 14/40=.350 14/38=.368

    Best carb size?

Yeah, its a VM38 roundslide brand new from bike bandit. Came with a primary type needle-jet which mikuni says is meant for 2-stroke generally. I also have a VM32 for the quadsport that Sudco recommended and tuned for me (not quite right I'll add, but close)... The only real difference is the...

    Exhaust Comparison

LOL! Well, its just a quadsport and I figured it beats paying 300+ for a muffler when the quad only cost $200 to begin with. :D The Warrior would need a much bigger driveshaft, but it already has a FMF and, although loud, its brings out the power.

The pilot jet is right on. The screw is an air screw, not a fuel screw. Turning it out adds more air. So, if I go to a bigger pilot (which I did and had to take back out), the air screw is too many turns out for the spring to hold it in. So, therefore, my pilot is as big as it can be. My...

    Exhaust Comparison

I made my own muffler... Not for a Warrior, but a quadsport. Here's how I did it: Top is a stock Warrior muffler. Next down is a Jardine for a quadsport. Next is a driveshaft I found at a house I bought. Last is a stock quadsport muffler (sorta hacked up). Pipe with some holes...

    Best carb size?

You guys are just used to it, I'm coming from a 250 quadsport so... :D But you have to admit, warriors are torquey for their size. I can't go bigger with the pilot because my air screw will fall out. My first though after that was to get a bigger needle-jet, but I figured that would just...

    Best carb size?

I found with the stock carb I could open the throttle up fully and then start counting before it revs all the way out. With the 38mm mikuni roundslide I have now, the response is instant and lowend is brutal. Just punch the flipper and the front end comes up.... No delay or stumble.... Even...

    Best carb size?

I thought the whole idea of flatslide was bottom end??? Here's a quote from the Sudco catalog, "Mikuni’s original flat valve (flat slide) carburetor, the TM Series Carburetors provide significant performance improvements over older design round slide carburetors. Air flows faster and...

How about a regular ole roundslide non-cv? I've found true cv's don't have throttle response.

Going to try and wrap my header/exhaust.

Ok, here it is http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=682442&page=3 The post by grayracer.... Should be at the top of page 3.

    Why not a non-cv type?

Going to try and wrap my header/exhaust.

Like I said, I don't know... Just what I read. I'll see if I can find where I read that. I've seen wrapped headers a lot too, but I've also seen a lot that weren't wrapped. What you say makes sense. Sure is interesting that you had to adjust your carb as a result. Seems to indicate...

Going to try and wrap my header/exhaust.

I read that wrapping the headers does squat for performance. It was pointed out that there's no way the gases can cool fast enough to make any noticeable difference. The only time you should wrap your pipes for performance is when cooling the engine compartment for cold air intake purposes...
