For trail riding you want to find a happy medium, you want a good top end but also dont want to lose any low end. The only thing i didnt care for with my 14/40 gearing was when i would try to crawl up hills i would have to be in the gas a little more. That wasnt a problem when i was racing but...
What type of riding are you doing? I raced desert last year and ran 14/40 gearing, racing tracks with that gearing i didnt like it so much so i went back to stock 13/40 and its much better for the track. I have a friend running 12/40 on his raptor 350 was just as fast as mine with mine quad...
Im not putting anymore money into the motor. If i can use the stock crank from the 99(If its needed) i'll use that. If i have to buy any major parts, thats not going to happen.
Went out and messed with the quad real quik. For shits and giggles I wanted to see what would happen if i press the starter button, and it turns over. I tried to turn the motor over yesterday at the crank and it wouldnt move at all. Going to pull the motor and give a friend my motor and the one...
You will need to re-fuel at certain points. No way of going 2hrs on 1 tank of gas in a race. I just raced this weekend and only got 25miles before i had to refuel, thats on a 12.5 mile course doing 31min laps.
Not sure what caused it yet. Kinda sucks cause i wont be able to make the last few rounds of one of the race series i do. Running in 4th only a few points behind 3rd place, down the drain
Raced an 8hr race yesterday, 4hrs during day and 4hrs at night. Day stage finished 3rd, Night stage finished 4th do to engine failure. Not sure what happened but its locked up.
