    CDI Question

I'll pick me up a manual for the bike, unless I can scrounge up a wiring diagram on this site. I need a manual anyways, as I'm thinking about putting a big-bore kit on it. You know....poke it and stroke it. :D ~Ronbo

    CDI Question

Will a questionable CDI box cause what sounds like a mis-fire or a rich, burbly sound at high RPM's? I've got this symptom that came up outta nowhere, so I removed/cleaned my carb, changed the fuel filter and cleaned my K&N. No luck, it's still there. Ignition is the only thing left I can...

    Damn, 1 prob after another

I looked at the HyperParts link posted above and they also show the sealed ball bearing in the Warrior starter rebuild kit, but my Warrior has the Torrington bearing. I then looked at the kit for the Big Bear it shows the Torrington bearing in the rebuild kit. I'm wondering if I have a Big...

Pretty sure I need a cam....

Yep, that's what us hot rodders would call "wiping a lobe". :( As JstCriusen pointed out, the rockers are prolly toast too, 'cause your cam is only 1/2 of the equation. ~Ronbo

    Damn, 1 prob after another

I got the starter rebuild kit off of eBay and rebuilt mine. I had to dress the commutator 'cause it was probably worn down .010 - .015". Put it back together and it works great now. The starter makes less noise now, too. I know it's not the bearing I was hearing before because the one that...

    Don't Know Where To Start

Got starter rebuild kit today and did the deed. Kinda tricky getting the new, long brushes back in with the new guts, without damaging the brushes. Did find out that the bearing they sent in the kit was a sealed ball bearing style, but my starter uses a torrington bearing in the front nose...

    Don't Know Where To Start

I just went thru the same bullshiznit you did, execpt I didn't have much oil leakage past the seal but my starter brushes were ate up down to the braide. I got a rebuild kit off of eBay for $36 shipped. It includes brushes, seals, bearings and o-rings. Just search for "Yamaha Warrior Starter...

    Damn, 1 prob after another

I called the local Yamaha house and they want $75 (!!!!) for the brushes. Damn!!! I then found the entire rebuild kit with bearings, brushes and seals on eBay for $34 shipped. I'm gonna yank the starter apart and see if cleaning it up will help out 'til the new kit arrives. I've dealt with...

    Damn, 1 prob after another

I got my trusty Fluke out tonight and sheked her out. I got 12 volts to the starter when the button was mashed, but no cranking....just clickin'. So, with a loving tap of the end of the screw driver the starter kicked to life, and so did the bike. Now I need to see if Yamaha sells a rebuild...

    Damn, 1 prob after another

1st my carb woes and now a starting issue. I cleaned my carb and it's taken a couple attempts to get it all right again as far as mixtures are concerned. But this weekend while out trailriding I killed my quad to let the family catch up and she wouldn't start again. I could hear the...

Question for you Warrior carb pros

I took the carb apart during my lunch break and aimed the acclerator pumps squirter (hotrodding term) down the throat of the carb. Removed the idle needle and cleaned the passages with B-12 Chemtool. There's nothing spectacular about the idle circuit, just a fuel bleed. So I'll try to...

Question for you Warrior carb pros

Good point, although this is the 2nd time I've had the carb apart. First time I cleaned it the accel pump wasn't working correctly (binding), but the idle was fine. Now that I pulled it apart again and got the accel pump working right the bike doesn't want to idel. I don't think I adjusted...

Question for you Warrior carb pros

Does anyone know what the small brass tube that protrudes from the bowl to the carb bore is for? You can only access/remove the tube when the bowl is off. In fact, in the carb rejetting guide (TUTORIALS section) photo 10 and 11 show the end of the tube at the top of the pics. It's where the...

    flush mount valve stems

$10 out the door from local tire chain here in Portland, OR area. They were the Gorilla 4-pack....the ones with slotted caps. Not a bad price, I thought. Plus, I got two left over for spares. :-) ~Ronbo

    oil

What do I look for on the Castrol 20W50 bottle? I went to the local parts house and checked out a bottle and couldn't find any kind of special seal/symbol on it denoting Energy Converving. There was one round logo with "API" markings, but nothing stood out. I even compared the 20W50's bottle...
