    How to ID engine...

No, you can't get the year from the numbers on the engine. See this thread.... http://www.trx450rforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=10012

Help! I'm running out of ideas

Ok, run through everything simple first..... Air filter clean? Fresh fuel? Fuel petcock not clogged? Fresh spark plug? Valves adjusted in spec? Then move onto more involved things like..... Check that the breather for the crankcase/tranny is not clogged up, also make sure your not over...

Help! I'm running out of ideas

What plug did you remove????? :/

    Break in

If you know exact engine displacement (bore and stroke), as well as the size of the combustion chamber (volume in CC's of the engine when the piston is at TDC), then measure compression (in PSI with your guage) you can figure out the compression ratio.

    Break in

Putt around for two tanks????? That would be 6 hours on my KTM. Crazy talk. I've always broke in a 2 stroke by going easy for 5-10 min, cool it, then go nuts. I've had 5 bikes and broke them in this way, no issues. Hell, my IT200 has about a gazillion hours on it and it was broke in this way.

    clutch kits

Barnett Dirt Digger clutch kit is the way to go! Comes with friction plates, steels, springs. I abused the **** out of mine and it just took it all. Highly recommended.

    varnished gasoline and our carbs

Keep your fuel in a metal container (an approved one of course) and it will last alot longer if you don't ride often. I always drain the bike out if its going to sit for more than 3 weeks. With my KTM its much sooner because the premix oil will actually make the gas go bad faster as well.

    Glowing header

The header will usually glow regardless of jetting. If the plug is black its an indication of running rich. Engine dying when chopping the throttle is also an indication of the reverse limiter getting fubared which the Warriors are known for.

    92 rolling chassis

FMF Q, spark arrestor and its nice a quiet.... less sound = more ground!

Check this out.... Wolfpak Modular System!

Check this out..... http://wolfpakusa.com/ Hydration pack, tool pack, misc storage, rib protection, all in one that attaches to your chest protector. Also comes with a shoulder strap kit if you don't ride with a c/p. When my camelbak and Moose enduro pack give up the ghost I'm getting...

has anyone used a widening kit

I bought one of those kits. As soon as it arrived and I took it out of the package I said **** THAT! They are heavy stamped 1/4" steel plates. They must have weighed 30 lbs. They never went on my quad, waste of money. End of story.

    my '84 cr250r rebuild.

If your gonna ride fast through the woods I suggest a good set of bark busters, skid plate, rad guards, rear disc fin, FMF gnarly pipe to give the bottom end some boost, and an FMF Q silencer to keep it nice and quiet, a flywheel weight to tame the power, suspension revalve, run Engine Ice...

    92 rolling chassis

I remember seeing a Warrior with a CBR600 engine in it on this site years ago. That would make for an interesting project to say the least. ;)

    carb question

This should get you started. Go buy a bunch of mains, pilots, and a couple of straight taper needles and start tuning. http://www.mxnewsfeed.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=21

    Kawasaki Bikes

If the bike is 22 years old with no maintenance at all you might want to do a top end before the piston shatters. Bike sounds pretty beat but the KDX200 / 220's were kick ass woods bikes. Bikebandit.com has an OEM parts program, I've used them before with positive results.
