Hello to all,

I have a 99 warrior that would not start I replaced the stator and p/u coil. now I have spark but it still does not start. I tried bump starting and it wants to fire but it backfiers when i give it gas and will not start. I have set the mechanical timming and tried 180 degrees and it still will not start. i checked compression and it's a 90Lbs I am getting gas and spark.
Maybe i got a dud stator how can I check it or does anyone have any ideas ?

I assume the plug is gapped correct. If the stator is bad would you still get spark (maybe just a weak spark)??? It should at least hit once when you bump start if you have fuel, spark, and O2 (probably what the backfire is). Are you getting plenty of air in and exhaust out of the motor?

Bumping usually doesn't do much good here. Not a lot of traffic to begin with.

A repair manual will have the stator test procedure.
It is probably your ignition coil though if it has a weak spark: Although you may just not be getting power to the ignition coil.
