Runs perfect but not when hot??????

1987 runs and idles perfect for the first 10 minutes then starts to sputter when she gets hot and won't restart. I even get a little backfire when I try to restart her. After cool down, she runs great again for the first 10 minutes. Everything was fine when I put her away for the winter. Any ideas?????? Maybe a bad ignition coil???

I'm bettin stator. I'd ohm it cold and then again hot. It will probably be out of spec when warm.

Pretty sure the ole 87 is still sporting the original stator so I'm thinkin about just ordering a Caltric from E-bay for around $50.00. I've done a lot of work on this 87 including the top end but I've never done a stator before. Pretty easy job??? Any special tools required? Would appreciate any tips.

Seems like both the Caltric and the Ricky get mixed reviews so I think I'll take my chances with the less expensive Caltric.
