From my understanding there is not one..

Yeah, I'm having a hard time finding it, if it exists.

A lot of the rev boxes out there claim 1000 more RPM... and none mention what stock is. Makes ya go "HMMMmmmm". Yeah, kind of interesting.

I just barely caught Yamaha customer service before they closed.

The CSR transfered me to a 'Specialist". He couldnt tell me what the max rpm was, but only that it did have a rev limiter.

Good thing it was an 800 #, or I woulda been annoyed.

With out any engine mods and just exhaust, no air-box, and carb kit I could spin the engine 11,000 rpm 6th gear 14t and 20's.. What stoped me was when I would float the valves. I don't know how the rod stay in it. haha Anyway now I have a 9500 limiter set on the dynatek. I've found that even with the very big cams and my old .390 that it doesn't make any more power past 8500-9000 rpm (thats right where peak is).
I'm not really sure why that would be... help griff.

LOL!

Well, thats helpful for sure. I'm gonna guess that Yamaha has the Raptor 350 set to 9.5K or 10.5K at most, just so people dont float'm all the time. I'm just gonna throw a tach on, and see what happens and where.

I dont rememberfor sure, its been too long, but I *think* 11,800 was all this engine could do with a radical cam setup, and that wasnt that safe either IIRC. So I'm gonna conclude OEM settings are far less than that.

RPM X Sroke divided by 152.4 = Piston Speed FPM.
4000 FPM is about maxium recomend, 4500 FPM is I would say the limit and should not exceed that.
9500 rpm = 4020 FPM
10500 rpm = 4443 FPM

It's really hard to float the valves on a stock engine or even one that's been had exhaust or intake put on, there really isn't any power up there. You better have you're jetting right on or otherwise it will just miss and act like a limiter.

The boxes that claim 1000RPM more, the CDI just sends a signal to the valve springs telling them to float the valves a 1000RPM higher.lol ;D

Damn, that fancy solid-state eluctronecs is amaze'n!

LOL!

[quote:asik7keb]the stock program on the dyna is 8500 rpm limiter.
Yeah and the non programmable box is set to 15,000RPM, I'd probably be picking my crank up in splinters at that point.lol[/quote:asik7keb]

you should call them and tell them you want a custom map loaded on that non programable one.

[quote:bkq3hnhq]Geezus, at 15000 rpm, thats not an engine anymore.

Thats shrapnel....

Well if you put a Wankel rotary in it, then it would still be an engine. :D[/quote:bkq3hnhq]

LOL, guess I could pull a rotary out of an old Suzuki RE5, and stuff it into a Raptor frame..... hehehe
