And I usually stretch it out to 5,000 miles between changes and it's not giving me any problems. When I was running regular oil it would smoke on startup because I had a few leaky valve seals, but after about 6,000 miles with high mileage oil it doesn't smoke a bit no matter what I do.

righty-o. i take it you have an earlier model vehicle? my silverado has the "oil life" system thing in it that tells you when to change the oil, so i dont really ever know when its coming up. kinda sucks, but i guess it kinda maximizes the life of the oil.

Yeah, the car is a 93 with 108,000 miles, so i'm not terribly worried about following the recommended maintainance schedules. I don't think this engine will ever die no matter what I do.

It's a 93 Escort GT. It's got a 1.8 DOHC Mazda engine in it. I'd rather have something with a v6, but this thing is a pretty good compromise between power and gas mileage. It's rated at around 130 hp, and averages 32 mpg and I drive it hard, so i'm not complaining.

Castrol 20W40 4 Stroke Motorcycle oil, no problems yet, seems like I have to change it after every 5-6 rides though.

i have been using yamalube, but i have a feeling when/if i get my other motor done, i will pay the extra cash and go with amsoil.

Ive been running Penzoil 10w-30 for about 4 years and havent had any problems with my clutch slipping. I think thats just a suspicion.

so, will synthetics make your clutch slip or what? i know they are supposed to help prolong the life of your motor and parts and create less friction, but are there any downsides to it?
