So im thinking of getting this 2003 honda 400ex that needs the rings and seals replaced. Is this expensive or difficult to do? Would it be better to take it to a shop and have them do it for me? Any help would be much appreciated as soon as possible, Thanks

It's pretty easy as long as you have the right tools, a service manual is like $30 and that will walk you through all of it step by step

Depends how mechanically inclined you are. You have to do timing and torquing and measure ring gap stuff like that.

before my warrior blew up i was lucky to change a tie rod end right, but i'm mechanically inclined and i rebuilt the motor myself. Just need to take your time

take time and invest in a decent set of feeler gauges for when you set the piston ring gaps. its not too hard to replace piston and rings, personally i wouldnt wanna pay a shop to do it for me
