Ground clearance tire size skid plate weirdness

Ready to finally get rid of the balloon 22's on my 01. Was thinking about 20's on the rear. For better handling. But I have an aluminum skid plate that seems to hang very low even with the factory tires. The skid plate was an Ebay special. When I bought the quad, it had none.

1) Do 20's make a difference on a warrior?
2) Should I go to a stock skid plate for clearance?

I like the 20's on the warrior if not doing super rough riding. To not lose ground clearance do the drw stuff.
