Took off the top end last night, I thought it looked pretty good for an '87 sitting in the garage for about 4 years.
Last time we were at the dunes it was terrible rich, damn carb had a 50 pilot in it with a 147.5 main, I just rebuilt it and put a 42.5 pilot back in,
probably start with a 150 main.
I am thinking bore, cam, and maybe a little head work.

This engine looks to me like it has low hours on it. If the bore checks out ok for OOR and taper, I think I will hone it and get an 83mm Wiseco 10.25 and a Vito's key, clean up the head a little, maybe a cam. I want to keep it reliable.
I don't know if it means anything or not, I checked the valve lash and it was perfect and it had the factory white paint that lined up still on the adjuster nuts,
looks like no one ever adjusted the valves.

Now I see they have an 11:1 piston with armor coat, I wonder if this would be a better choice - I ride woods and occasional dunes. I also think Wiseco uses a chrome top ring and need to find out if I should use a 240 or 320 grit hone.
Any idea of the benefit/drawback of 11:1 compared to 10.25, and should I still use the advance key with 11:1?
