I just picked up a 94 warrior, its in excellent shape body wise and stills run fairly good. But notice that when its starts up there is a loud knocking untill it warms up and then its not so loud. Any thoughts as to what exactly it is?

Hard to say without actually hearing it. I'm thinking rod bearings, crank bearings, or bad piston slap. Can you tell if it's coming from the bottom end or the cylinder?

Sounds more like the top end, its old and the guy before me ran it hard he said. I bought becuase he was hurting for the cash, it also has an oil leak in the top of the head? So probably do a top end rebuild?

Yeah, i'd say do a top end rebuild. When you have it apart check the rod and crank bearings for free play.

thanks for the info, i still runs somewhat stong it keeps up pretty good to my 350 raptor but couldnt pass up the deal. So if i have to put some into it to then no big deal!
