Are the metal dust shields neccesary on the front hubs or can I take them off?

I took mine off and its alot easier to clean/hose out the front brakes after a muddy ride. Looks cooler too. I dont know if it helps cool the brakes however.

this is unlikely, but someting to consider. If a rock would happen to bounce into the inside of the wheel it could end up wedging itself against the caliper and tearing it off.

The shields are so flimsy, I doubt they would prevent this.

I would just leave them, but then again I just have **** luck!!! ;D

There is many spots here where the dnr places small rocks to cut down on erosion, it's not worth the risk to me. There is quite a few rocks already on the trails regardless.
