Did I blow it up?!?!?!!

I was riding for a few hours and on my way back I gunned it down the road... Shifting into 3rd or 4th it dident go into a a gear and I revved it super high... Them when I pulled the clutch in and stopped it started ticking SUPER LOUD coming from the top end. I just adjusted the valves but I'm going to check them in a few...could I have cracked a piston ring or even the piston... How would I know? Please help ASAP
