Coil problems

I have a 89 Yamaha worrier 350 and it eats coils fast I will be riding along and it will just quit if u wait about a hour or two it will start back ik then quit I can't figure out what makes it eat coils it also at times has lots of power and at other times it doesn't what could cause these problems
