So I killed my multimeter trying to check voltage. Kill switch was off, no key in or anything. Put the leads to the battery and there were some sparks, then HOT wires. Now I can't even check an AA battery with it. Do you have to disconnect the battery before checking it?

Nevermind, I'm an idiot. Had it on current setting rather than voltage/ohms.

Yep I'm an idiot half the time, still new to these beasts. I had heard that you have to charge the battery on a regular basis, since no alternator and all, even on maintenance free batteries. Just wanted to check the voltage out. It's reading just over 12v so all good!
