what kind of brake pads work best??? sintered metal or carbon

Sintered metal pads eat up your rotors. Use carbon pads, or if you ride in mud and water get EBC Severe Duty pads.

y are sintered metal so much more expensive

Usually sintered pads aren't much more than a couple bucks cheaper than a set of carbon pads from the same manufacturer. I guess they sell them for more because the cost to make them is higher, or maybe just because they last longer than carbon pads, so that justifies the higher price. They last longer, but instead of a cheap brake pad wearing out, it's your expensive rotor that is getting worn out and cut into.

Severe Duty pads are sintered metal, honestly if you want a good replacement go to your yamaha dealer and tell them you want the pads it came with stock. Nissin pads are the **** and you cant buy them anywhere.

The SRP wave rotors are only 80 or so, much cheaper than the overpriced galfers. Those combined with severe duty pads give you a very nice setup for not that much $$$. The front isn't that much of an upgrade, but the rear can certainly use a wave rotor to clean all the grit out of your pads.
