Ok so I was cleaning my Warrior's carb when I noticed a couple of things. A black little accordion looking thing has broken off and a tiny brass piece looks chipped/damaged. Are either of these things a big issue, and do you know if they typically come in a rebuild kit? Sorry, I don't know much about this sort of thing but hopefully you can understand what I am talking about. Also, to remove the nuts on the rear axle do you turn them left like a regular nut, or right? (It's a 96 I think btw)

Sorry for so many questions. Let me know if the links worked. Thanks in advance

turn them lefty loosy righty tighty
sounds like the rubber boot for the accelerator pump rod and if it's not ripped or damaged then you should be able to slide it back on the rod the carb needs it or else gas will get up into the throttle mech behind the black side plastic cover
as for the brass piece don't know without a pic but I'm guessing maybe a jet or something

and the boot doesn't come in the rebuild kit I think you can order it from Boats.net but it's the whole accelerator pump rod and it's like $35 or right around there not cheap

Wow! wasn't expecting to get answers so quickly. :) So the "black accordion" is the piece in #42 rod set (thanks for that), but I cannot figure out what the other piece is. Hopefully it isn't significant. I was having problems getting my Warrior started before I took the carb off. I had to spray starter fluid in it, and then it would run for less than 10 seconds and make a clanking noise. Any thoughts?

The clanking noise would most likely be the starter clutch. These bikes are known to do that. The carburetor was/is still probley clogged.

You have to buy all 3 parts together. That's why it's called a "set"

When I said the "other part" I was talking about the brass piece I originally asked about. The "brass piece" was actually the side of the needle that you unscrew it from and it was chipped. Thankfully it comes in the rebuild kit that I ordered. Sorry I wasn't clear on what I was talking about before. (I know what a set is btw lol)

There's a picture of the needle I was talking about

And a Picture of the chipped place you unscrew it from
Thanks about the starter clutch

Geesh Lloyd, a little harsh on the poor guy weren't ya, lol.

Sorry, I wasn't even trying to be harsh. oops. lol I just seen some people not understand before and I had to order the set myself. I guess I was just tying to be clear. Sorry again guys.

It's all good.
For the starter clutch, on eBay I see a starter clutch one way bearing for about $40 and the same thing with a gear for $130. Do I have to take my ride apart to tell which one I need?

I was just kidding Lloyd. I laughed when I read "that's why its called a set". It sounded like something that would fall out of my mouth. Should be getting that 88 today btw.

I'm sure you are going to post before and after pics Frit of that '88?
