One of my friends just picked a warrior from one of his friends... He said it ran last summer. Right now it doesn't have a key switch. It seems like it has compression but is locked in gear, it seems like it has everything but is somewhat disassembled. My question is what should I check/do first? And there is a lever on the exhaust valve... What is that? I don't have that on mine?

Mike that lever is a compression release for the pull start. It was only on 87-88 Warriors.
I would try to figure out why it`s stuck in gear first. And from the looks of it someone opened the wiring harness to check the orange wire to the coil. I`m sure it`s because there`s no spark. I can`t tell but hopefully it`s not too butchered on the harness. If you need some help with it give me a call you got my number.
