We just recieved a bit over a foot yesterday so I went for a good rip on the roads. I love having 6th pinned in deep snow and throwing a monster snow roost to the admiration of all my neighbours.
My little brother rode the hell out of an 89 160 and it never let him down. He used to race his friend's honda 300 4x4 and beat him in a long race. That is in my opinion the best quad ever built for youngsters.
Shiver me timbers that is one beat up skid. Did you ride through a mine field? The trick is to hit the rock with your tire. The plastic seems like a great idea and I can't wait to see what you think of it.
[If those idea don't work, use the ether trick. Ohh btw, don't worry, it's not the Taliban bombing your house. lol had to...

You bugger ;D
Try everything before the ether trick.
I prefer vegetable oil myself. On long rides I bring a bag of frozen french fries and when I get hungry I drop them down the oil fill hole. After about 20 minutes I fish them out and have my lunch.
Car oil is much different from heavy duty engine oil. Pretty well any oil designed for diesels is a safe bet with a wet clutch system especially if they are allison c-4 rated which is a wet clutch specification.
I had the core out and I did try the ratchet strap but this tire was stubborn as hell. The tire is all stretched and there are a bunch of little wires sticking out around the bead.
