always start with the cheapest and the easiest. I would buy a new spark plug anyways then I would definitely check the coils ground wire (you never know) then just keep tracing the problem back to cdi.
 
hey man dewie here...I have a 98 warrior, and I had the same problem, I took the whole damn thing apart. And finally figured out that it was the stator pick-up coil, If you take it to a dealer they will tell you, that you need to buy a whole new stator...you need to change that part...I am pretty sure that is your problem...If you want to find a cheap parts site just ask...
 
well my ignition coil tested bad so i bought a new one and its on its way as im speaking.so hopefully that fixes it but yeah i would like more info on what that part is and where to find it and stuff
