Problems with timing

Ok so i have a 2001 Yamaha YFM350X Warrior. I cannot get the timing exactly in the middle. No idea what im doing wrong but here are the steps i took

1. Line up the Stator with the "T"
2. Moved the sprocket around to match it with the "V" groove

Either it will be to far to the left or too far to the right im not exactly sure why its doing this.
My tension-er is taken off so it doesn't intervene.

Any suggestions will be greatful

Just make sure the slack is all on the right and put the mark just to the left. It'll never be exact.

ok that helps out a lot i couldnt figure out why i cant get it in the middle. I'm rebuilding my motor so i was having timing issues
