Good write ups, liked the K&N installation. I use to see on eBay a custom aluminum box that completely replaced the stock airbox but haven't seen it on there for sometime, looked nice but not sure how it would be for riders in non dry areas.

I agree. Seemed like it would let too much enter via the top of the box.
