Raptor 350 EFI and Turbo build thread

We went out riding this past weekend and took the 350 for its maiden voyage after the refresh and I must say I am very happy with the results. I broke the top end in driving around the house the day before. Just an FYI, if you put in a new cam in your quad you need to readjust the valve after...

Raptor 350 EFI and Turbo build thread

So I got everything back together other than I'm waiting on the new hydraulic clutch lever/master and my DID timing chain. The timing chain was stretched so bad the tensioner was barely holding it from just flapping around. I repainted the throttle assembly and front brake master and they look...

New Clutch: To add or not to add plate?

Not that I or others can't pull a hard clutch lever, but being unnecessarily hard to pull is just uncomfortable when you just want to trail ride with the family. I'm actually converting mine to hydraulic while I'm in the middle of my rebuild. If you're looking for max clutch grip, I read smooth...

Megasquirt is a great system, I've probably install 20 systems in the past with very good results.

New Clutch: To add or not to add plate?

From what I understand is you can add an extra plate or install upgraded springs. Both provide extra clamping force. I just installed a new kit with upgraded springs. If you do both I would imagine the clutch lever will start getting a little hard to pull.

Raptor 350 EFI and Turbo build thread

I got the oil cooler tabs welded, the front end painted and clear coated. For a rattle can job I'm happy. Scratches will be easy to fix! I pondered for hours where I wanted to mount the oil cooler and am really happy where I mounted it. I cut the lower mounting tabs off of the oil cooler so it's...

Raptor 350 EFI and Turbo build thread

Thanks a lot!! Trying to bring this ol girl back to life. On that note I have very bad news. I found out the engine was not getting oil pressure because the oil pump failed at some point. This caused the cam and rockers to fail as well. I tore the top end down to the connecting rod and also...

No start or engine turns off

All, I wanted to share what I found during the restoration of my Raptor 350. I had an issue where sometimes it would not crank or start unless I shook the bike a little, then it would start right up. Sometimes while riding it would just turn off. Well, I think I found the issue......One tab...

Would a warped head cause a lean condition?

What about the air fuel screw? Once warm you are supposed to adjust the idle to about 1000rpm with the idle screw, then slowly adjust the air fuel screw until it idles the highest then turn the screw a little CCW/out. Then you adjust your idle down to where it's suppose to be with the idle screw.

Would a warped head cause a lean condition?

A warped head would cause possible lack of compression and poor running conditions. Higher compression from a thinner head gasket or better flowing head will cause lean conditions. You may need to richen up the idle so the RPMs come back down.

I got the axle back on with new hubs for the sprocket and brake disc. New chain and brake pads to start out fresh. Everything is torqued to factory specs too.

My new rear fender finally came in so I got some more assembled. I added rubber isolators on the two side fender supports so it would have less stress on the fender where they are known to crack. I was able to get all the wiring cleaned up and back in too. I also installed my new brake light...

Raptor 350 EFI and Turbo build thread

So I'm starting to put the rear end of the quad back together. I had to buy a new axle because the old one looks like it never had any maintenance. The bearing races on one end were cracked down the middle and trashed the axle!! I got new factory sprocket and brake disc hubs while I'm at it. I...

Raptor 350 EFI and Turbo build thread

So I had the stock injector flow tested and it was about 288cc at 40psi so probably 29lb injector at 43psi. I'm going to need something around 400cc. But the small EV14 injector is all you need. I plan to use an LS9 injector which is a 56lb injector.
